Review: “Maly Uzh,” Uzhhorod
I recently visited the Maly Uzh restaurant on Korzo Street, 17, and here are my impressions.
At first glance
Maly Uzh is located in the heart of Uzhhorod, on Korzo — an important place, overlooking a lively street, lots of people, movement, and the spirit of the city. This gives the place a special charm: you feel that people live, work, and meet here.
The interior is cozy, stylish, but not too pompous. There are decorative elements, live plants, pleasant lighting — creating a comfortable atmosphere without being overloaded with details.
Dishes and menu
The menu is quite extensive — Ukrainian, European cuisine, with some Italian and American dishes. I tried borscht, a burger, and dessert — the borscht was tasty, not too salty, with enough ingredients. The burger was large and juicy, the bread was fresh, but the sauce could have been a little more flavorful. The dessert (tiramisu or something similar) was delightful — delicate and not too sweet.
The portions are large, which is convenient, especially if you want to fill up or share a dish with friends. Prices are average to above average, but for the city center and the quality you get, it seems reasonable.
Service
The staff is polite and attentive. The waiters bring the menu quickly, ask if everything is okay, and give advice if you ask. When the place was quite full, I didn’t notice any decline in service quality, although the wait time for some dishes was a little longer than I would have liked.
Atmosphere and details
The music is in the background and doesn’t drown out conversation, which is a plus. It’s clean, the tables are comfortable, and the ventilation is good — it’s not stuffy, even when it’s crowded. A nice terrace or outdoor seating area, if available, is a plus, especially in the summer.
The only thing that was slightly lacking was a wider selection of cocktails or signature drinks. Also, some menu items may not be available, but this is probably normal for establishments that work with fresh products.
Conclusion
Maly Uzh is one of those places you want to return to for its cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and delicious food. It’s not perfect in every way, but it’s a really good option for lunch or dinner in the heart of the city. If you’re in Uzhhorod, I recommend visiting, especially with good company.
